Springbrook SGA enters “Teen Video Challenge” for $15,000

On January 28th, the SGA met in room F309 at lunch to discuss their plan to shoot a video clip for a $15,000 video award contest.

The Springbrook High School SGA plans to meet this week to discuss their plans and strategies for the upcoming events of 2014.

“The important project requires tedious planning and the easy stuff could just be over group text or through our email/Facebook,” said SGA Recording Secretary Dan Pham.

The contest is called “Teen Video Challenge” and is provided by the Discovery Education Inc .First prize winner will get $15,000. Second: $10,000, and third: $7,000.

The goal for the meeting is to find ways to promote safety driving for the Springbrook and local community. Especially when prom season comes rolling, safety driving is the number one priority.

“It’s pretty exciting to plan for this project. We have done a lot of projects before but this one is for a really good cause and we could have a chance of getting a huge amount of money,” said SGA Treasurer Sumaiya DeLane.

The SGA is looking for volunteers to assist them with shooting and editing the video.

“It doesn’t matter whether we win the contest or not. It’s mostly about promoting a good cause and having fun with each other,” said SGA President Ryan Washington.

The SGA also planned to discuss various ideas such as “No Homework Day” for seniors, assemblies with inspirational speaker, and much more.

The upcoming General Assembly is on Friday, February 14th at 12:00pm during lunch in room F309.

SGA General Assembly is a monthly meeting that discusses upcoming events and ideas. Most importantly, it is a meeting where student senators ( selected by the executive member) get to vote for or against events and activities.

Members of the SGA expects a high number of participants during a general assembly meeting.

The SGA meets twice a week, or sometimes almost everyday, depending on the level of urgency that is on their agenda.
