Homecoming is a strong American tradition. The University of Missouri is widely recognized for hosting the first official homecoming event in 1911. The tradition began as a way to welcome back former students and alumni to the campus for a celebration that often included a football game. Over time, this practice gained a lot of popularity and spread to other universities and high schools across the United States.
As the tradition grew, homecoming became a series of events including parades, sports games, pep rallies, dances, and other social gatherings. It has become a time for schools and their communities to showcase their pride, spirit, and unity.
Springbrook marks the beginning of our Homecoming season with the Battle of the Homecoming Decorations. Each grade level is given the theme and the opportunity to creatively express their interpretation of the homecoming theme. The winner is usually the seniors, but there have been a few occasions where underclassmen have won. The week continues with themes for each day. This year we had:
Twin Day Monday:
Tye Dye Tuesday
Rep Your Culture Wednesday:
-Throwback Thursday:
-Represent Your Class Friday
We continued the tradition of nominating students for the Homecoming Court, Homecoming Football game, and the much anticipated Homecoming Dance.
All in all, this year was a huge success.
