Winter sports season kicks off
Unfortunately, fall sports has ended, but will be replaced by the fiery of Winter sports. The Blue Devils will be blazing hot during the ice cold winter. The Blueprint met with the athletes and coaches to give their predictions on their upcoming season.
Bocce Ball (Last season’s record: 5-1)
Bocce ball has been very successful for the last few years, and they are continuing to become better each year. Coach Doug Remer, likes to take one roll at a time, “If we stay positive as a team and encourage each other throughout the match, we will continue to compete,” Remer said. The team has three returners that are coming back to the team for another season; Eric Beckford, Simon Loewenstein and Chandler Havely. They were part of the back-to-back Division Championship team. They will have the same expectations of coach Remer has instilled in them, “Be great teammates, encourage other teams when they have nice rolls and just focus on the next roll,” Remer said.
Indoor Track
Track was very successful from their last season. The seniors that graduated last year were the ones who helped track, but the new upperclassmen will be looking to come back, and will be wanting to keep the success going.
Swim & Dive (3-1)
The swim and dive team had a good season last year and will be coming back looking to make their presence known.
Girls Basketball (6-17)
Not having the best season last year, The Lady Devils are coming into this season with good intentions and hopes to better their chances. They will be looking to come back this season with full fire.
Wrestling (8-1)
The wrestling team was really successful last season. Almost half of the team last season were seniors, however they’re looking to come back this season to do better. “Our team can accomplish things like winning the Grapple at the Brook and having individual county, regional and state champs,” wrestler Billy Madden said.
Boys Basketball (15-11)
The Blue Devils are coming back from a good season with a great team. They will be going through a new team due to the amount of seniors lost, from last season. Despite the loss of the seniors they are looking to come into the season with a strong base. They did really well in the playoffs last season making it past the Sectional Semi-finals, but lost against Perry Hall. This year they look to bounce back and continue their rhythm from last year.
