Field Hockey falls to Churchill, 0-1
It was a hard felt game for field hockey after losing 0-1, against Churchill High School to get to the State Finals. The Blue Devils came out from the beginning of the game, and went on an attacking playing style. The girls were on Churchill’s side throughout the whole game, and didn’t let up on them at all. However, Churchill started to pick up their energy, and were able get some shots on goalkeeper, Tatiana Sookdeo. Unfortunately, Churchill girls scored in the middle of the first half, but after that goal the Blue Devils kept playing with a high tempo. Midfielders, Vene Richardson-Powell and Beira Ho, were giving the Devils chances all around, and made the game exciting from all their chances. The whole team was very energetic, and were playing their hearts out, the whole game. Even though they were down a goal, they didn’t want Churchill to come back with another goal.
Despite the game being at Paint Branch High School, the field hockey team had supportive fans that came out to enjoy the night, and cheer for their peers and students. The Springbrook fans played a huge factor to this game because they were loud and had their school spirit. They were so loud you couldn’t hear the Churchill fans, that attended the game.
Although they didn’t win against Churchill, the field hockey team is respected by their fans. They worked very hard this season as usual, and made their expectations for the season. Their regular season went great with the team going 8-4, and they were able to be the #1 seed in their division. They beat the likes of Northwood, Paint Branch, and Clarksburg to become the Sectional and Regional Champions.
