Feel that breeze in the air? The smell of freshly cut grass?

That’s the smell of spring. With excitement for this upcoming spring arriving, arrives an excitement for all baseball fans in the metropolitan area. The return of the Washington Nationals.

After clinching the best record in the MLB season of 2012, they have many fans hoping for them to perform even better in 2013. However, they failed to execute their goal of being better and instead fell through the rocks. Many fans hope that they begin to come together to achieve every fans’ dream of having their team win the worlds series.

“Many players stopped doing what they had to do and it seemed like they had already given up on their season. I remember in 2012, I could always expect a good game, even if they lost but last year was a bunch of disappointments. I have high hopes this season because I think they all got it together now,” freshman Jesse Turcios said.

With aging players and others competing for their spots, fans could only wonder who may start this 2014 season.

Outfielder Jayson Werth, who will be turning 35 this year, has a history of injuries. On the other hand, he handles the bat very well and the only concern for the Nationals are if he can keep up with a 162-game schedule.

Second Baseman Danny Espinosa lost his spot to Anthony Rendon because he was struggling, mostly due to a broken wrist. However, now Espinosa is healthy is competing for his spot this spring training.
