September 15 to October 15 is celebrated nationwide as National Hispanic Heritage Month. It traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans. According to The Library of Congress, “The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.”
Springbrook celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting the achievements of Hispanics as scientists, artists, mathematicians, activists, historians and much more.
Students celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month by creating flags that represented that culture and backgrounds. Next year, Springbrook plans to incorporate music and performances to highlight Hispanic Heritage.
