New athletic director brings new spirit

Along with a new weight room and track, this year Springbrook welcomes a new athletic director. Daniel Feher left Paint Branch high school after working there for 14 years as a math teacher,  a field hockey coach, a basketball coach and an assistant athletic director. The Blueprint met with him to ask about his goals.

B: “What is your first impression of Springbrook?”

F: “Life. I’m loving it…Being across town at a rival school I always had my own impressions and I’ve been pleasantly surprised and really excited to be here and see what the students and staff are about here.”

B: “What are your main objectives for Springbrook this year?”

F: “I really want to help the students grow an identity as a group. Athletically, we want to successful in our sports … I’d really… I’d love to bring the Curriculum Cup here, which is the competition with have with both Paint Branch and Blake. I want our fans to kinda grow together and start to come out and support and demonstrate their commitment to the unity of Blue Devil Nation… I want people to fear Springbrook again.”

B: Did you have anything to do with the new website?”

F: “The new website is something that I decided I wanted to do to get the communication level raised because I think that this new website has the ability to not only to disseminate information more easily but it is also a fundraiser to get money generated back to us.”

B: “What teams are excited to see this year?”

F: “To be honest with you I’m excited to see everybody. I’ve just been jacked up about Thursday, I’m going to go out and watch the golf match; I’ve never been to a golf match. This new job has been really interesting to me because I coached in the fall. It was always field hockey … and it’s very different not being in practice everyday … and go out and just meet the teams and to see the whole big organization has been really cool. We have a new football coach in town so their game at Blake is a big one on Friday. This is a pretty exciting weekend and to be honest with you I’m a fan of it all.”
