The ninth-grade students at embarked on an epic adventure beyond the classroom walls—a field trip to witness Shakespeare’s classic, “As You Like It.”
As You Like It’ by Shakespeare is this play where Rosalind gets kicked out of her uncle’s place and heads to the Forest of Arden. She dresses up as a dude named Ganymede and bumps into her crush, Orlando, while in disguise. It’s all about love, tricks, and how relationships get crazy tangled.
The cool part is how they’re in this forest, and it’s like nature vs. city life. There’s drama, comedy, and, of course, lots of love stories. In the end, everyone ends up married and sorted out. It’s wild, but hey, that’s Shakespeare for you.
Ninth-grade student Elium Yonas attended the play and commented, “The play was intriguing, especially the musical aspect.”
Ninth-grade student Shirley Ash offers a first-person account of the field trip, sharing her perspective on the play with enthusiasm.
“The field trip was fantastic! At first glance, it was inviting, with stairways and glass displays with Shakespearean outfits from different time periods. You could take pictures and read descriptions to learn which play each outfit was from. The first level was full of the play’s actors, and the stained glass added to its appeal.
The city view was breathtaking. The second level we visited had a concession stand, though I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it due to the prices. However, the overall experience was enjoyable.
Orchestra seats offered the best view—seeing the entire stage and live action was incredible. The first act was particularly funny and engaging, making the whole experience truly enjoyable and relatable.
I’d love to have more trips like this! The play’s moral was: stand by those who support you, especially when you’re facing tough times, not just when you’re winning.”
