Springbrook basketball player stars in Adidas commercial

It is not everyday that a regular high school athlete is chosen to be featured in a commercial for an athletic apparel company. When Springbrook’s very own basketball player Isaiah Eisendorf was chosen to be shot in a commercial for Adidas, it came as a surprise to some.

Eisendorf starred in a commercial shot by one of the cameramen that works for Adidas who is also a friend of his basketball coach. Eisendorf did not receive any money from the commercial as he is still an amateur athlete.

He received the news in April and a week after receiving the news, Eisendorf and the Adidas crew shot the commercial at Springbrook on a school day.

“We shot it right after school. It probably took about two hours, ” Eisendorf stated.

Shooting the commercial was a new and strange experience for the basketball player. Before beginning filming, Eisendorf had to go through some preparations to look like he was working hard.

“I had to put baby oil on my body and they sprayed me with water,” Eisendorf said. “It’s because the baby oil and the water don’t mix so it made it look like I was sweating.”

Although the camera man has had some experience shooting athletic commercials before, he gave Eisendorf freedom to do what he wanted for the commercial. He told the film crew what to shoot and which angles would provide for powerful shots.

“He wasn’t a basketball specialist exactly he was just good with the camera and special effects and all that. I mean there were times where I would help him out and say shoot from this angle and stuff because I know basketball more,” Eisendorf said.

After the shooting was done, Eisendorf did not hear from the Adidas team until the final commercial was edited. It took the team a week to add the special effects and make the final draft of the commercial.

The commercial features multiple shots of Eisendorf dunking a basketball and dribbling it while shirtless and sweating. The crew changed the sky to have dark clouds and added a black and white filter to the entire commercial.

The final product was impressive for Eisendorf and everyone that watched it with him.

“It was a great commercial. It was real cool. The graphics and everything are good. It was a real professional job,” senior and Eisendorf’s teammate Tavon Ngangum said.

Though the commercial will not be aired on television, it can be viewed on YouTube. The video’s name is “Dream” and it can be found on the Adidas YouTube channel.
