Mental health is something many students experience, and at Springbrook High School, a club called Springbrook Minds Matter is working to ensure that students feel supported. The club is part of Our Minds Matter, a student-led organization that focuses on promoting mental health awareness in schools. During the 2025–2026 school year, the organization held 794 meetings and reached more than 3,057 students.
Springbrook Minds Matter meets every Monday. During meetings, students discuss different mental health topics and ways to care for their well-being.
Recently, the club hosted a campaign called “You Matter.” During lunch, students were asked to write something positive about themselves. These messages were then collected and displayed on a wall in Room F113 so that other students could read them throughout the day.
The club sponsor, Mr. Miehl, along with President Wuhibtemariam Gebru and Vice President Yonatan, helped organize the campaign.
Senior Saron Getachew shared her thoughts about the club, saying, “Springbrook Minds Matter brings a lot of awareness and helps us students acknowledge what mental health is and how to approach our mental health.”
Another senior, Ruth, said the club has brought “a lot of positivity and lifelong skills” and that she is grateful to have been part of it.
Through activities like the “You Matter” campaign, Springbrook Minds Matter encourages students to reflect on themselves and support one another.
