Overview of the Event:

The purpose of the NEC Open House was to showcase all our signature programs, clubs, and activities at the school. We aimed for it to be a student-led event, with student ambassadors, guides, and master and mistress of ceremony facilitating and guiding the audience and 8th graders around the building. Our two standout programs are IB and AOIT, with AOIT being particularly distinguished. Additionally, we offer five completer programs providing college credits and internship opportunities: PLTW, JLS (for future lawyers and policymakers), Hospitality and Tourism Management (focusing on the business aspect of service industries like hotels or restaurants), and TAM (Maryland’s newest teaching academy certifying paraeducators and teachers). Our arts-intensive pathway for music or visual arts is also significant, and all clubs and communities were led by students.

Successes of the Evening:

We garnered 60 more applicants for the IB regional program, marking a 200 percent increase from last year. Enrollment in the AOIT program doubled from previous years.

Springbrook’s Future Focus:

Our goal is to enhance equity and broaden our footprint, ensuring that every student at Springbrook is aware of the plethora of opportunities available based on their passions. These opportunities include earning college credits through these programs, securing internships, and engaging in dual enrollment, all of which equip students with valuable skills for college and life. We’re enthusiastic about witnessing continual growth in numbers and enrollment year after year.
