Fidget Spinners: another fad?
Fidget spinners are the latest craze to sweep the nation. Mostly used among the youth, this toy is marketed as a stress reliever for students in a learning environment. The gadget has definitely gained a foothold at Springbrook High, and people at the school believe that the sensation is just another fad.
Marcel Jones—a teacher in the history department—believes that the trend will be abandoned.
“Every fad is going to go as fast as it came,” he said.
Regarding if the toy relieves stress, he argues the contrary.
“Its an added distraction. It’s not going to take attention away from your phone. It’s just another item to distract you.”
Minh-Tri Nguyen; a junior at Springbrook, makes and sells his own fidget spinners. His opinion on the gadgets popularity is mixed. Regarding on if the toy is a distraction,
Minh-Tri said;“It depends how you use it.”
Ultimately, he believes that the gadget will not keep having as much hype down the line than as it has garnered now.
“I think it’s a big trend as of now, but I don’t think it will stay popular enough to be in a person’s daily life.”
Mr. Jones expressed the same sentiment.
“Before long it will be gone,” he said.“Like Thrasher t-shirts and Helly snowsuits.”
