Towson field hockey commit leaves a great legacy
“I’m going to miss everything about the team,” field hockey captain, Beira Ho said.
Playing field hockey has been an amazing journey for the Towson commit, Beira Ho. The way she started field hockey is familiar to other athletes, because her father wanted her to play a fall sport. She started playing field hockey for Springbrook, and she fell in love with the sport. The midfielder has been very successful. She has scored 30 goals and has assisted 13 times, while being on the team. She has been credited one of the top midfielders in the county by the Washington Post. Her sophomore and junior year, she won first and second-team all county for her excellent performances.
“Beira is a true leader, she possess characteristics that many do not have. She is has confidence, discipline, self -control, and demands the best from herself and her teammates,” coach Rebekah Harrison said.
Beira has been an impact for the team this season. She has been the leader of this year’s team due to her experience. According to her teammates and coach, she has a positive attitude and always motivates her teammates when they need her most. Beira has made friendships with some of her teammates on the team, and they will miss her get presence.
“Beira is more than just a teammate/captain to me. She’s like a sister and true friend all in one. I’m gonna miss our jokes, gym days and thrift cops. I’m gonna miss my Lil Butata’s (Beira) presence and how everything just turns funny when she’s around,” teammate Melat Assefa said.
During her college quest, Beira had two top schools in mind. She chose between American University and Towson University. Her junior year, she decided to commit to Towson University, and she wants to continue her journey with field hockey. Beira’s work ethic will allow her to go all out at Towson, and earn the same respect she has here at Springbrook.
“Hopefully, I’ll make an impact on the team all four years, and just have fun,” Ho said.
Although she is going on to bigger and better things, she will be remembered as the great person she is, by her teammates, coaches and friends.
“She has become such an inspiration and I am so proud of the wonderful young lady she has become,” Harrison said.
