Get hooked on ‘Fresh Off the Boat’
Famous American restaurateur, chef, writer, and attorney, Edwyn Huang (Eddie Huang) kicks off the new season of his autobiographical show. This show was based on the memoir of Eddie Huang’s early life and rise in the popularity he possesses today.
His memoir was published in 2013 by Spiegel & Grau, while the show started up in 2015 on ABC. This show kicked off the first episode of their 3rd season this past Monday, Oct. 11. It runs on ABC at 9/8c. It’s a fun-filled comedy show that takes places in the 1990s surrounding a Chinese immigrant family. The show centers around the immigrants trying to fit in a heavily populated Caucasian neighborhood.
This first episode, the immigrated Chinese Huang family went back to their homeland to attend a family meeting. They assumed that they’ll feel comfortable in their homeland, Taiwan, but things take a twist when they are out of their element. Eddie’s mother, Jessica tries to revive her favorite activities and memories of her previous life in Taiwan before she moved to Orlando, but ends up failing and feeling out of place. On the other hand, her husband, Louis tries to rekindle his relationship with his brother, and thus making it worse by comparing his life to his brother’s life.
As a family, they ended up feeling homesick and they learned that the hardwork they put into creating their current lives in Orlando was better than reaping in the riches of their lives handed to them by their family in Taiwan.
