Lebron “King” James did it. He did it. He proved the doubters wrong. He said what he would do. He came back to Cleveland and won his city the championship they so craved. After a slow 3-1 start against the Golden State Warriors, Lebron was able to bounce back and lead his team back to a 4-3 win over the reigning champs while breaking records and making history left and right. And by giving us one of the most entertaining finals game 7’s in recent history.

So, how did Lebron James and the Cavaliers exactly defy expectations and bring their city a title?

One, he started attacking the rim with the motive of scoring and not assisting. In the first two games Lebron played in a slow paced manner as he would often look to pass and grab more assists. In the span of those two games he totaled 42 points, 18 assists and a whopping 11 turnovers. By the way the Cavaliers lost both games. In game three he ended up playing much more aggressive and fast paced and his style proved to be successful, as he ended up with 32 points, 6 assists(very positive in this case) and only 1 turnover. His dominant performance continued in games 5 and 6 as he totaled 82 points, 18 assists and only 3 turnovers. In those three games Cavs won by 30 points, 15 points and 15 points.

Two, Lebron’s record breaking performance. Lebron James joined an elite company as he became one of the four players(Jerry West, Shaquille O’Neal, Rick Barry) to score forty points back to back in the finals. He continued to make history as he was the first ever player in a finals series to lead both teams in points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocks.

Three, an unbelievable performance by the one and only Uncle Drew(Kyrie Irving.) Just Like Lebron, Kyrie Started the off the series slow but boy did he pick up. He averaged 27.1 points, totaled 190 points, played superb defense on MVP Steph Curry allowing the league’s top scorer to averaging only 22.7 points and 158 in total. Last but not least his three pointer with 54 seconds left in the game that won them the game.

52 years. 18,980 days. 455,520 hours. Tears ran down Lebron’s face as soon as that final buzzer was heard in Oracle arena and across the US, as he delivered on his promise of bringing a championship to Cleveland. Now let the celebrations continue as, the Cleveland curse has been lifted thanks to Lebron and company as they brought home the Larry O’Brien trophy to cleveland for the first time in their 46 year franchise.
