Nine costumes you can make in under nine minutes
Are you having trouble deciding what to go as for Halloween? Do you not have enough time to put effort into an elaborate costume? Have no fear, we have some last minute costume ideas that anyone can make with little to no effort.
Nickelback/Quarterback: Tape a nickel or multiple nickels onto the back of any shirt. It is easier to use printouts of coins since they are lighter and will stick to the shirt better. It is also advised to use big coins that can be seen from a short distance. The same can be done with a quarter to make a quarterback.
Nudist on strike: Wear normal everyday clothes and hold a sign that says “nudist on strike”.
Ceiling fan: Take any plain shirt and write the words “Go Ceiling!”. There are a variety of ways you can write the letters on the shirt. If the shirt is a light color, a marker will do the job quickly and effectively. For darkers colors, use any light colored tape. Masking tape and duct tape are good options. For both dark and light colored shirts, fabric paint will work perfectly with either kind of shirt. The only drawback is the time it takes for the shirt to dry and be ready to wear. For added effect, you can carry around pom poms or a megaphone.
Shadow: For those who want to go all out, a black full body suit is the best option; it requires no accessories except for shoes. The bodysuit can be bought at costume shops and some party stores and online. On Amazon you can buy it for $20 plus shipping and handling. If there isn’t enough time to go shopping, wear black from head to toe. Be careful not to have any designs on the shirt that may ruin the costume.
Bandit: This costume requires a black and white striped shirt, black pants, a black beanie and a sack. A mask is optional. A mask can also be made from the beanie. Pull the beanie over your eyes and with a white crayon, trace the general location of your eyes. Take the beanie off and cut out the traced parts. Keep cutting until the beanie fits comfortably on your face.
Fifty shades of grey: Go to any hardware store or paint store and take all of the paint sample cards with the color grey. Take any black, white or grey shirt and tape the paint samples onto it.
Formal apology: Dress up in formal attire and hang a sign that says “I’m sorry” around your neck. If you can’t make the sign, you can go around and apologize to people. For added emphasis, speak in a posh accent.
Rosie the Riveter: Wear a denim (or chambray) button up shirt with a red bandana. Tie up all the hair, ensuring it will not fall out of the bandana. Long hair and bangs may be pinned to make a small bouffant. To tie the bandana, first fold it in half. Place the longest edge, or the folded edge, on the nape of the neck. Take the two corners and tie them behind the bouffant or where the bouffant would be. For added support, bobby pin the bandana in place on both sides. Take the last corner and fold it in about an inch and a half. Bobby pin this piece behind the first knot. Tuck in the flaps sticking out into the sides.
Morton Salt girl: Wear a yellow dress with long sleeves, or a yellow coat, with white leggings and yellow shoes. As for accessories, carry around an umbrella and a Morton Salt container.
