Class of 2029 kicks off high school experience with first field trip full of falls, fun, and friendship
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the freshman class at Springbrook High School took their first official field trip of the year, an ice-skating outing that quickly turned into a memorable bonding experience.
For many students, stepping onto the ice felt unfamiliar and a little intimidating. Some clung tightly to the railing, carefully inching their way forward, while others attempted to glide across the rink with confidence, sometimes ending in a quick fall and lots of laughter.
“Freshman year is basically just one big ‘learning how to walk’ phase,” one student shared. “And we really leaned into that, literally.”
As the trip continued, students began to find their rhythm. What started as wobbly steps turned into smoother strides, and by the end of the session, many were able to complete full laps around the rink. While no one is heading to the Olympics anytime soon, plenty of freshmen left feeling like “pro athletes,” at least in their own minds.
More importantly, the trip was not just about skating. It was about connection. Watching classmates fall, laugh, and get back up created a shared experience that brought students closer together outside of the classroom.
“It was fun seeing everyone just trying their best,” another student said. “It made me realize we are all just figuring things out together.”
Even with cold hands and a few sore knees, the field trip was a success. It marked the beginning of what many hope will be a year filled with more opportunities to build community, create memories, and grow together.
As the Class of 2029 continues their journey at Springbrook, one thing is clear: whether on ice or in the classroom, they are learning to find their balance together.
