In May, we celebrate Staff Appreciation Week. From May 5th to 9th, we show our
appreciation to our staff by holding different events. At times, teaching is a thankless job. We
need to thank our teacher for everything they have done.

This week, for staff appreciation week, the theme is Wicked Oz-some. They have chosen this theme because of the
release of the movie “Wicked”. Each day, there is something different for our teachers. On Monday, it was “Because of You, We Defy Gravity.” They will start their day with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and the breakfast treat of Munchkins. On Tuesday, it was “You’re so POP-ular”. They
can enjoy some popcorn, some soda, water, or sparkling water. On Wednesday, it was “Emerald City Power Up Station”. The mighty teacher gains strength from snacks, treats, and drinks. On Thursday, it was “Wicked Lunch”. It was clever and yummy at the same time. It was “Flying Monkey Freeze Potion” on Friday—any ice cream they chose. If you ever get offended, remember there was ice cream in the staff lounge.

Also during this week, the teacher had their spirit week. Some students may or may not
know that it was spirit week for them. It was also the time to celebrate all the teachers. Each day
of the week, it was something different. Each day, when the students walk into their classroom
and they are surprised by what they may wear to school the best day. This week is important for
our teachers because it is our way to appreciate them. They have done a lot for us, even if we
don’t notice any difference that they are making. It is something that we should appreciate.
Teachers should celebrate all year, not just for a week.
