Springbrook High School student Wuhibtemariam is collecting books and school supplies for her Middle Years Programme (MYP) projects. The recycled books and school supplies will go to the old school in Ethiopia.
The MYP personal project is required for all 10th grade IB students. Each student is allowed to choose a project that is personal to them. Wuhitemariam chose to collect books and school supplies for her Ethiopian School Abune Gorgorise because they learned of the lack of funding to have all types of books from pre-school books to high school books. the students needed.
For Wuhibtemariam, this project is more than just a project this is
A chance for her to change what her school was like. This is a way for her to impact people’s lives.
Abune Gorgorise is a religious school of the Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox Church. The grades from pre-school to high school. The school is located in Bardar the 2ed biggest city in Ethiopia. Even though the school had enough funding to be a private school, more times than not, it ran short on money to use for books and school supplies. This motivated her to change the lack of English books in the school.-To make sure her school knew she didn’t forget about how hard they were trying to keep books.
Wuhibtemariam started collecting school items late february and will continue to acquire any student and staff member’s donations by Mar 28, 2025. Students and teachers all over the school were more than happy to be part of something Amazing. “This is an amazing cause”-stuff member stated. Another was overjoyed stating “maybe I will buy something the kids in Ethiopia deserve new things too.” If you are interested in donating contact Wuhibtemariam on instagram wuhibtemariam_gebru.
