The fall season of sports started even before school started with practices and scrimmages beginning at the end of August. The fall season of sports consisted of Football (Varsity and JV), Girls Volleyball (Varsity and JV), Cheer (Varsity and JV), Boys and Girls Soccer (Varsity and JV), Girls Field hockey (Varsity and JV), Girls flag football(varsity), and cross country(Varsity and JV).
All of these teams had an amazing season this year such as, varsity volleyball with 10-6 and going to Regional finals, placing 2nd in the region. Senior Abi Maza of the Volleyball team says, “Springbrook volleyball has always felt like family to me, and this family is what got us to regional finals. I am proud to represent such a great team and can’t wait to see how it’ll change and grow in years to come” .
Football ended their season with a game record of 5-5. Sophomore Dominick Jamison says, “Springbrook Varsity Football felt like a family to me. We grew, we learned and we experienced everything together. It was a positive experience because we had team bonding, and it was enjoyable to be with my team and explore new opportunities for myself and my team. Overall I would say my football experience was 8/10.”
Field hockey with 5-7, and a division championship. Our cross-country team did amazing this year, winning multiple meets, placing third place in regionals, and making it to states. One of the students who made states for cross country, Leoul Ayalew says, “Cross Country this year helped me push myself, along with a fun group of kids. We had a ton of amazing memories together throughout our season, and our great coaches helped to motivate us every step of the way. Can’t wait for next year!”
Cheer had a wonderful season and performed at their cheer competition. Junior Amiyah Thompson says, “Springbrook Varsity Cheer this year has shown me what being a team really means & how to strive to better one’s self. We had lots of moments before game days where we had lots of fun together & even brought snacks & food and bonded with one another. We would sing and party on the bus after a win and it was just great! We had our ups and downs but our team always got through it and resolved it! I would say my overall experience as a Springbrook cheerleader was a 8/10!”
Another student from Cheer, Daria Ingram says, “Springbrook Varsity cheer has been a great experience this year. I was able to make friends over time and learn so much. The competition was really fun and very stressful but worth it.”
All of our Springbrook blue devils did amazing this year with the fall season, showing all of MCPS that Blue Devil pride. As the winter season of sports is coming along let’s all show Blue Devil pride by joining winter sports and cheering our Blue Devils.
