Movies to watch over break

Over the winter break you might find yourself in a boredom spell. You might be asking your friends, “What’s the move?” or finding yourself checking Twitter and Snapchat every two minutes. Luckily, I have found you a move. Here are five awesome movies coming out over winter break!

DECEMBER 23:  A Monster Calls

This adventure movie is focused on a young boy who struggles with the bullying from his classmates and the mental illness of his mother. He escapes into a fantastical world that has monsters and fairies that help him find courage and faith.

DECEMBER 25: Live By Night

Live by Night is a drama that is set in the 20’s.  The opportunity to gain power and money is there for any man.Joe Coughlin, the son of the Boston Police superintendent turned his back on the law and joins the criminal nightlife. Joe crosses a powerful mob boss by stealing his money. This roaring affair ends with revenge and death.

DECEMBER 28: Paterson

In this drama, Paterson is a bus driver. He has a daily routine of going to work, observing the city, the overhearing chatter of the passengers, walks his dog, and writes his poetry. However, his wife has a journey of her own she has newfound ambitions and finds her gift of poetry.

JANUARY 1:  Only Yesterday

In this drama and comedy, an unmarried 27-year-old woman has lived her whole life in Tokyo. She decides to revisit her hometown in the countryside and on her train ride memories of her childhood comes rushing back to her as she observes where she spent her younger years. The film switches between the past and the present of Takeo’s life as she contemplates on her life decisions.
