In our Forensic Science class, they are analyzing various types of evidence and its vital role in identifying suspects. When a fiber discovered on a victim’s clothing aligns with fibers from a suspect’s attire, it can significantly contribute to the suspect’s conviction. Conducting a simple burn test enables us to determine whether a fabric is natural, synthetic, or a blend of both, aiding in the identification process.
Comparing these test results with findings at a crime scene allows us to either confirm or exclude a suspect’s involvement. We conducted burn tests on three different fiber types, aiming to assist students in matching and identifying fibers from crime scenes to aid in suspect identification
