College and Career Readiness Day encounters mishaps

Wednesday, Oct. 19 the auditorium was filled with eager seniors meeting college representatives and being prepared for life after high school. Students were separated in groups by their counselors before entering the auditorium and received a schedule for the day ahead.

The career and college readiness programs consisted of Accuplacer testing for Montgomery College, a mock SAT test, FAFSA sign up sheets, and various college representatives. Many students got the opportunity to start or complete their process on applying to colleges. The day ended with seniors coming together and taking class pictures.

Although career and college readiness day was a useful event, it had some flaws.

“College readiness day was somewhat pointless for me, it was sort of unorganized but i got some things done,” senior Benyam Tweordos said.

Unfortunately, the classrooms that were used for the day’s program was overcrowded with students. Additionally many students had to relocate to different classrooms because of disorganization of their schedule.

“It was kind of dysfunctional but their was a lot of information about FAFSA and there was a lot of scholarship opportunities,” Philip Webslui said.
