Sick of candy? Try these treats!

When most people think about Halloween treats, candy is usually the primary treat that comes to mind. But when throwing a Halloween party, it is nice to have a variety of different sweets.

Even though candy will always be a classic treat to use for a party, there are many other treats that are just as tasty and even more creative.

During your Halloween party, you want a treat that everyone will enjoy. If you do not want to use candy, try baking some cookies. All types of cookies will do, but if you really want to get into the Halloween spirit, make Halloween themed cookies using cookie cutters. You can make them pumpkin shaped, ghost shaped or spider shaped. The possibilities are endless.

In addition to cookies, brownies are another easy-to-make Halloween treat. You can use your favorite brownie recipe to start. After your brownies have been baked, cut them into graveyard stones and decorate by writing RIP and creating fake blood with frosting.

If you are not a baker, do not worry. There are plenty of treats that do not require any baking at all. For example, you can make edible magic wands. All you need to make these wands are pretzel rods, frosting and sprinkles. Dip the pretzel rods half way into the frosting and then shower the rods in sprinkles for added decoration. The magic wands are a perfect treat for those who like a little saltiness.

Other treats that do not require baking are monster marshmallows. To make these, you need large marshmallows, different colored melting wafers, chocolate and lollipop sticks. Melt the wafers in the microwave in 15 second intervals until they are completely melted. Stick one end of the lollipop stick into the melted mixture. This helps the marshmallow stay on the stick. Then put the marshmallows on the lollipop sticks and dip them into the melted wafer mixture. Shake off any excess and place the marshmallows on wax paper. Wait three minutes for them to dry. Melt the chocolate in the microwave and then put the chocolate in a piping bag. Finally, draw some scary faces on the marshmallows. Feel free to add anything else, such as candy corn for noses or sprinkles for hair, to make you monster marshmallows look more authentic.

But what if you prefer healthy treats? Well, there are a bunch of healthy Halloween treats out there too. One of the easiest healthy Halloween treats to make are banana ghosts. To make these, all you need are bananas and chocolate chips. Cut each banana in half horizontally and use three chocolate chips to give the ghost two eyes and a mouth. Stick a lollipop stick into the banana so it is easy to carry.

Another healthy Halloween treat to make is a clementine pumpkin. Buy some clementines and celery. Peel the clementines and stick a piece of celery on the top of clementine and you have mini pumpkins. But beware, not everyone, especially young kids, will appreciate a healthy treat.

There are countless other treats, both healthy and unhealthy, that can make your Halloween party a success. All you need to do is get a little creative. Have a happy Halloween!
