The boys varsity basketball team finished their regular season on February 21 with a 82-53 win against the Walter Johnson Wildcats. This concluded a regular season in which the Devils went 20-2 overall and 9-0 in conference play. Senior Andrew Robinson led the team with 16.2 points per game (ppg) and senior Isaiah Eisendorf was second on the team with 12.5 ppg and led the team with 10.9 rebounds per game.

“I think the season went extremely well, I’ll take a 20-2 record and a #1 seed in the playoffs any day of the week. I’m very proud of how our regular season went,” senior Aaron Robinson said.

The Devils’ only losses this year came to St. Andrew’s (18-7) and Clarksburg High School (18-4). Both losses were by fewer than four points.

The Devils came into this year after a disappointing 2012 season in which the they finished 13-10 and lost in the Maryland 4A North Region first round playoffs. They started the season 5-0 including a win over, then Washington Post top ten ranked, Colonel Zadok Magruder High School. However, they finished the season going 8-10 in their remaining games, This was especially surprising considering the year before Springbrook finished the season 21-4 and lost to the Sherwood Warriors in the Maryland 4A North Region Final.

The Devils are currently ranked 16th in the Washington Post and are the number 1 seed in the Maryland 4A North Region State Championship bracket. Their first playoff game will be against Sherwood on Wednesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium.

“I think our playoff chances are as good as anyone’s in the state of MD and I think if we stay focused and play smart, the sky’s the limit for us in the playoffs,” Robinson said.
